Evening Piano Concert

Julian Jacobson

Internationally renowned British pianist Julian Jacobson will present an evening piano concert in the Housemuseum Music Room.

Since the early 1970s Julian has been a vital and original presence on the British and international musical scenes. He has performed with many of leading orchestras under conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle and Tamás Vásáry and is recognised as a fine duo and ensemble pianist having partnered such greats as Nigel Kennedy and Steven Isserlis. Julian is recognised as a Beethoven specialist having performed all of Beethoven’s piano sonatas in a number of cycles including one famous occasion on which he played them all within a 24 hour period.

Critics acclaim him:

The Daily Telegraph (UK): “… a disarming technique coupled with an undoubted intellectual mastery made Julian Jacobson's recital an awe‑inspiring experience...".

The London Times: "Its near minimalistic repetitions and driving amplifications have a cunningly kinetic effect which Julian Jacobson and the English Chamber Orchestra recreated in all their brittle brilliance. (Britten's 'Young Apollo' at the Royal Festival Hall...)".

Cost $40.00 per person includes concert, self guided tour of Collection and light refreshments.

Artist Talk

Kathy Temin, Art, Remembrance and The Home

Kathy Temin’s work has combined sources that are not commonly associated with each other such as Minimalism and sentimentality, remembrance and Abstraction.  Kathy will talk about these influences on her work, focusing on her My Monument projects and her suburbia influenced works.

She has engaged in a dialogue with identity, history and memory as a result of her family's cultural displacement. This dialogue is generated from an engagement with art history, monuments and architectural details.  She has been influenced by suburban architecture and design, particularly from the 1960s and 1970s. Materials, colors, art and architecture are often locators to memory and history and she will talk about these in relation to her practice.

Cost $40.00 per person includes talk, self guided tour of Collection and afternoon tea.
