Building A Collection | Talk
Sunday 17 November 2019
11:00am - 12:00pm
Join us for a sit-down discussion with Corbett Lyon on the beginnings of the Lyon Collection.
Over the last 30 years, Corbett and Yueji Lyon have built one of the country’s largest collections of Australian contemporary art. Spanning painting, photography, sculpture, installation and video, the collection has grown to include more than 350 artworks, objects and artefacts.
Join Corbett Lyon as he discusses questions such as 'Why did you start collecting? How do you decide who and what to collect? What can you do with a private collection?'
Corbett will explore how the personal interests and predilections of the collector guide decision making in building a private collection, while also examining the role of the private collector within the broader art community.
This event is held alongside our current exhibition In Full View: Works from the Lyon Collection at the Housemuseum Galleries (7 September - 26 January).
Bookings via Eventbrite (spaces limited). Includes general admission to the Galleries.
